A/C compressor issues

Just wanting to make sure everything is good for the summer days. Last summer I went in to a valvoline to get my a/c recharged and they said they couldn't. The compressor wasn't working. What would cause the compressor to just NOT kick in. I HAVE checked fuses.

It's low on R-134, it's got a pressure switch and if it's got low pressure it won't cycle the compressor.

You could have a very minor leak so it's just low of it could have a larger leak which menas repair time, you're going to have to get it diagnosed.

If it's a minor leak it may be able to be refilled, if it's not you'll be buying parts.

They had said there was no leak when they did their diagnosis at valvoline.
I'll take it to ford, and have them check it out.

If you have an 8mm socket and a flat head, remove the bolt that holds the a/c clutch plate on. Be careful when you remove it because there is a shim in the inside of the plate(around the bolt). Chances are if you have a leak its the front compressor seal. Pretty easy to install, but you have to remove the compressor.
