another after thought. this is my daily driver and with MN winters and sloppy roads would I be better off getting a SRI.

SRI causes either way, you'll gain no real noticeable performance off of it. It's really just a noise maker. Save your money, buy the SRI.

Would I get more of a performance upgrade going with a aftermarket exhast system. I've been looking at magna flow or steeda.

I've heard of alot of problems with the SRI tho in the crappy MN weather...Personally I'd just go with the FS intake...

Doing an exhaust might gain a little bit but to really get a noticable gain you need a long tube header, the stock setup is very restrictive.

i've had no prob with the "SRI". there'd be a prob with a CAI with water and what not. the steeda and coolflo are the same price. i have a steeda to keep it up out of water and snow. if you wanna go cheap check out
www.htperformance.net . they have a MAF tube for a DIY intake

Steeda Intake
/thread.
CAI sits to low (I think) for MN winters. Just me though.

Mine is fine in the winter. I have a k&n drycharger over the filter tho.

with that and the splash guard in theory would be plenty. but i hydro locked my 01 with a CAI. i'll never do a CAI on a DD again. i actually didn't feel comfortable with the stock dura intake

I can second that. I've still got all the parts of the hydrolocked engine that resulted from my CAI-equipped car hitting a puddle that was lurking around a bend.

Ditto, I've never had a problem with mine eather.
If you drive normal and know that you have that CAI you will stay away from the river crossings..

When it happened to me, I was on 35E. I had no way of knowing the road was flooded out around a blind corner and had I known my only option would have been to stop and wait for an hour until it cleared. With an SRI or a normal intake nothing would have happened. You don't have to be driving like a moron to suck in water with a CAI, you just have to be unlucky once. I'd really rather have a setup like a Volant.
