i put in an aftermarket deck (DEH-P7600MP). well, the speed volume is active like the stock radio. is there a way to turn it off? i thought the speed volume was something the [stock] radio did. but, i guess not, it gets quiet when we stop and turns up when we go faster. it is not an option on th radio, so it must be the car..... help
speed volume was off when i took out the factory radio

you sure its not an option, cause my old deck made by pioneer had an option to turn that on or off

as far as i know it was started in the 05 models.
as far as i know this radio doesn't have that as a feature. i've had like 3 of this one and many other pioneers and never had this prob. i think i even had a 7600 in my 01 too. never had this problem. i'll check for that ASP to be sure though. but, if it had it as a feature, why would it be ON by default?

The odd ball single wire in the factory harness, that is the speed input for the stock radio. Not sure if that gets hooked up in an adapter harness or not, but that's what it's for at least.
Guessing the owner's manual for the Pioneer would say something about it too -->

Did you turn the ASL off though?
Using automatic sound
levelizer
                      English
During driving, noise in the car changes ac-
cording to the driving speed and road condi-
tions. The automatic sound levelizer (ASL)
monitors such varying noise and automati-
cally increases the volume level, if this noise
becomes greater. The sensitivity (variation of
volume level to noise level) of ASL can be set
                      to one of five levels.
                      1. Press AUDIO to select ASL.
Press AUDIO until ASL appears in the display.
                      2. Press up arrow to turn ASL on.
ASL MID appears in the display.
                      - To turn ASL off, press the down arrow.
3 Press left or right to select the desired ASL
                      level.
Each press of left or right selects ASL level in the
                      following order:
                      LOW (low) - MID-L (mid-low) - MID (mid)
                       - MID-H (mid-high) - HIGH (high)
