the funny thing is , i remember scotty8 had a pt that he boosted and it over boosted by 20 psi and did the exact same thing. also i forgot those engines have a balance shaft, big clue here, if it needs a shaft to balance out the engine, it should not be used as a perf motor. id look to see if there is a delete kit out for this. :?

Ouch, painful...

And yes, there is a balance shaft delete kit out there, made by cosworth, and I believe it's rather cheap...

any thing that can be removed to help ease the load on the cheap cast crank the better. plus at 6grand that shaft is lookin to start walking around inside the oil pan. i know iminhell has or had a conquest that came with a 2.5 that had a balance shaft, i remember reading how alot of these guys get rid of them and have the rotating assembly balanced either internaly or externaly, the same aplys here. get rid of the shaft. forged rods and pistons can be matched balanced at any good shop(i.e northern cyl head is were ive had the best work done) use good parts, put the time and money in the right spots and it wont cost a second mortgage. 8)

Ya all like that shrapnel? Holy twisted metal batman! I never thought I'd blow it up either, but one little hose comes off, and thats all she wrote.

Regarding balance shaft deletes, I have seen balance shaft delete kits for the 2.3, but not the 2.0.

So, yup the engine is out and dismantled. Now to decide which route to go. 2.0 vs 2.3. Starting to lean towards 2.0

Ha-Ha, don't worry I know your vote, and I'd like to, but its getting more and more pricey. (Did you notice the head you thought was 400 is act 483, plus it does not include cams), plus core, so I can't sell off my old one.
