Ok folks, I seriously want to make this idea a reality. The concept is simple, come to Giant Days here in Le Sueur and bring your shinny Focus. We will drive in the parade, and solicit donations for Children's Hospital. There will be a small car show after the parade and we can picnic, ect.

Additionally, I have submitted a proposal to Ron the admin on FJ to "chronicle" the event as a special interest story for FJ.
I suspect he will have no problem with this, as it will be my first assignment as an automotive journalist for FJ. So expect pics and bios to be in the article.

If we can pull together for 1 day and make this first event a success, not only will we have fun, but we can challenge the other Focus groups to follow our lead and show off their prized rides for charitable purposes at gtgs all over the nation.

If you are interested, please post in this thread. We will need to put together a small group to meet and put the plan into action. Should there be enough interest, there will be more details to follow.

Thank you,

Chalon

Btw, I am open to suggestions on the theme and charity too. It could be "MN Focus on Heros" saluting the fallen of MN in the Iraq war. Each car would have the names and pictures of MN's bravest and all donations would be split among the honored.

just another idea. If you have one, chime in.

It's a bitch and a half for me to do slow rolling, but I'd attempt it for ya ;)

As it's looking now (5 months away).... I appear to be free.

Great Idea! I would say either kids, Vets, or pets. I don't have any kids but I do have pets and Vets as well as a nephew that just arrived in the big sandbox a week ago. There is a charity that sends calling cards to the men and women on the ground over there so they can talk more frequently then the two 15 minute calls a week given to them by the services. Lots of possibilities...

It is a rather short parade, but it does go in spurts. Mostly slow though. Very happy to see interest. 8) I realize this isn't next week or anything, but we'd have to have at least 3 other cars driving 2x2. It would be awesome to see 5 rows. We have at least 10 nice rides out there. Btw, this is fun for those with kids too. I will be gathering particulars this week, so more to follow.

Brian, those are a great ideas. This has to be a group effort in order to make this happen. All input and interest is welcome and necessary.

We need to hear from some more members!
