So I have problem with my taurus window lock switch. I can open all windows from driver's switch but none of the switch at the door itself work. I thought the culprit was probably the driver window lock switch so I went and get another one and that didnt help. On the fuse box there is a relay for "driver window relay" and tried swapping it with another one and that didnt help too.
When I pressed both driver and passenger switch the window stop rolling until i release the switch at the passenger side. this makes me think that the passenger switch is making connection to whatever the controller is but I have no idea how it all works. I'm out of idea now..anybody know what I could try next? I'm also thinking using buying voltmeter and trace it that way later on...
thanks

Have you checked the harness on the drivers side to see if there may be a broken wire or worn insulation that may be shorting something? generally if the short is power to ground you'll blow a fuse but if it is elswhere it could cause some weird symptoms. I would check anywhere the wire harness moves like where it exits the door and enters the body. Looking at my Foci diagram it is possible that there is a break in the lock wire which would make the door switches unusable. I haven't had the chance to take a more in depth look at the circuit to see if what you are experiencing with pushing the two switches simultaneously is something similar to a house set up where two switches control one light. If there is a similar circuit pressing both buttons could have an effect if both circuits are good while depressed but one or the other is bad when in the normal or unpressed position. Since the lock switch circuit basically cuts off one pathway to the door switches it is still possible that you can create a false positive by completeing two circuits simultaneously.

huh?

first and for most...test the switch with a test light, leave it plugged in and back probe it, does the light light up when the switch is activated? if yes, go to the motor, back probe it hit the switch any light? if yes it a motor if no then you need to test all four switches and motors to find the culprit. do this all the wat to the fuse and relay. this is symtom to system to componet to cause. it will never fail to show the problem.
