Hofele Grill: Is $225 rediculous?

First, here is a pic of one of the holy grail MK1 Focus Grills, the Hofele:

My question is just this: If you found a brand new one (these are out of production), and could buy it for $225, would you go for it?

Some perspective on price. The Euro exchange rate is very different today than it was just two years ago. The week dollar makes things much more expensive to buy and ship over here. This part is one of the most highly sought after appearance upgrades. Finding one brand new is practically damn near impossible.

Would you hop on it?

It is a Sweet looking Grill! $225 I would figure it would cost that much....The Euro Parts for our cars over seas is a little much but the Euro Parts are OH SO Nice!

Was that the price to get it into the US? Doesn't seem too bad. I am looking at getting a new grill since I forced mine upon a friend of mine.

Honestly, that might less than the cost of one of the generations of RS Collection/Edition upper grills.

Wasn't there also some other really nice aftermarket grill in Europe, or maybe it wasn't nice, I dunno.

For $225.00 I'd be on my way to a new set of wheels, That seems really high for a grille to me.

Good looking piece but I'd never spend that much on a grille, I'm kind of cheap though.

Well, if you look FJ, someone is alway slooking for a Hofelle grille, and they are well make, all metal grilles.

I would'nt buy one, I don't like the badgeless look, looks too generic.

But you could maybe ask around on FJ if anyone is interested...

It's got a couple of things going for it:
Euro
Quality product
No longer made
Rare find

It's price with shipping from overseas I feel is reasonable, without Knowing what the grill goes/went for when in production I can say that airmail costs would be around 50-60 bucks from europe. I can say this because I have had a few items quoted in the last couple of weeks that would be of general package size and weight.

The only thing that it has against it is that it is for a Focus...
A lot of Focus owners won't shell out big bucks for parts, even if quality. There are those that will, especially when you factor in the above pluses. I think even at 225 if your intention was to turn a profit on it you could probably sell it for $250 plus shipping to someone in the US but it may take a while. If you are in the position that you can spend the money and hold on to it you may be able to get more as such items become more scarce.

So to answer your question if I owned a MK1 and it was something I was looking for personally or perhaps as an investment if I had the disposable income to do so I would.

Well, we shall see what comes of this hopefully soon. I've seen old pricing in the $140 range just for the grill. So I guess this really isn't out of the ballpark.

I may actually be interested in buying it if you got it also. I just would really want to see it in person first. I think it may actually be cheaper than the stainless steel RS collection grill that I was thinking of getting.
