the twins traded Johan Santana to the Mets today....for 4 minor leaguers! oh my god!! bill burditzman, some guy, dude with no shirt, and a water cooler!!...honestly, how can we even be a Twins fan anymore?!?

Here we are getting the new stadium, and the ownership unloads the best pitcher in baseball. What a deal. Yeah, much like the vikes...lacking enough talent to be the real deal...

It's simple economics. We live in a small market, and even with a new stadium, we will NEVER compete with the NY's for income. We just signed Morneau and Cuddyer to big deals, there wasn't much money left. We offered him 80 million, but he was greedy and wanted more. Good riddance. He would have been a distraction all season. All for a player who only plays once every 5 games. We have locked up the heart of our batting order, everyday players for years to come.

while you do have a good point, i still think it sucks big time cause guess what, our owner, Carl Pohlad, is the richest owner in baseball. he is about a 2-3 billion dollar man. not to mention the fact that he is about 160 years old and is still tight with his money. talk about greedy...i just wish they would open up the pocketbooks and spend a nickel so we can win a championship. and i do agree that locking up morneau and cuddy was great...but i still really think we need that big, right-handed slugger to be legit. i mean, look at detroit...edgar renteria, miguel cabrera...plus the cleveland is still good. no way we win this division..

Exactly, that's why it was a good time to unload Santana. We weren't going to win it with him here anyways. Get some good prospects in (the Twins have always done a good job with that) and get ready for 2010 and the new stadium. With that said...I think we could have done better though.

i guess the thing that really sucks is that they are always, always "building for the future". when we had guys like Hunter, Santana, Mauer, Morneau, Cuddyer, and getting a healthy Liriano back, they were only a couple good sluggers from being really really good. but since they cheaped out again, we lose hunter and santana, and will not even compete for another 2-3 years or maybe more. we could have been sooo good going into the new stadium, but instead, we will be awful.
