What kind of noise, are you sure it's not clutch noise? Bring it by, I'll take a listen.
Assuming it's driveable anyways.

Really, Bring it over here. I talked to service and they don't think it'll be a problem.
CALL ME ASAP, If you have a stock airbox you should put it back in, If you don't you can borrow mine.
Do you know if they contacted Ford at all about this? There is no reason that should void the warranty unless the filter came apart and got sucked into the engine.
If the timing jumped that may be a different story as a timing belt may be considered a maintenence item but I still think it would be covered.
Call Me.

yeah, due to some law, they can only void the warranty if the aftermarket part caused the problem to happen. An air filter can absolutely not cause a timing belt to jump

if i remember correctly the , no sorry all fords belt motors are non interferance. so at what rpm did you make the pistons touch the valves?

Keep thinking that way sonny boy, The 4-banger under YOUR hood IS an interference motor.
As far as I know the ONLY one that is and interference motor is the SVT 2.0, Let the belt jump and your valves and pistons will get up close and personal with each other.

I know the zetec is non-interference... I thought the SVT was basically a returned version with a better intake? guess not

The SVT is a Zetec with higher compression and therefore less piston to valve clearance.
There are other differences but thats where the interference part comes in.

Better to be wrong now than after the timing jumps.
Not the first time a service manual was off a bit of incomplete.
