Custom Cold Air Intake for the Fofo!

I finally got around to making my cold air intake. I bought a bunch of 3" piping off of ebay with silicone hoses (actually high quality ones!) and t-clamps. everything was like $100, plus I got the K&N filter NEW for $30/shipped.
It was a fun little project. I am planning on ducting in some cold air and making a splash guard for the backside of the filter. I am pleased :) and it sounds very nice indeed!

all opinions welcome as well as any idea for ducting and a splashshield design. thanks for looking!

Nice job Deago'....

I take it that the filter is placed behind the foglight filler insert if I follow the pic sequence correctly?

yep. it's tucked in there nicely. I was even able to use the stock intake clamp to hold it securely. I will have to make a mount for the fliter end though and route some fresh air in there because the cutout in the fog light spot is going to be too direct for my comfort with after and such. IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII like it!

lots of piping left. but no 90degree bends. I think I have two 75's two 45's, and a 30 as well as two 16" straight sections, four or five couplers (3-layer silicone) and four or five clamps. if you're interested, I'd let it all go for $40 or trade for... I dunno, stuff.

alright. parts left over
6x 3" clamps
3x couplers (3" long/ea)
2x 75* pipe
2x straight pipe
1x 30* pipe
6x 4" to 7" straight pipe scrap
Spectra air filter $25msrp (used for 20 miles, only until I got my K&N filter in the mail)

all of the pipe is very thick (2.0mm) and high quality. and if you want, you can polish it because it's aluminum!

Especially nice that its above the bumper so it's already rather protected from water and what not, mine is RIGHT in front of the tire

I'm interested in what you did use, do you have a list of that?

I Used

2 - 90* bends
1 - 45* bend
4 - 3" silicone couplers
8 - 3" t-bolt clamps

as for tools (this is all I used)

flathead screwdriver
1/4" socket set (for t-clamps)
sawzall (for cutting pipe, an exhaust cutting kit works well too)
dremel tool (to round out the sharp edges and clean up any debris)
small Pliers

If you guys are interested, I will be dismantling the intake tomorrow, I can take pictures of the "exploded" (dismantled) setup. It's really VERY easy. I never understood why anybody spent HUNDREDS of dollars on a filter and a couple pipes.
