Bought a used Steeda SRI a few months ago. How do you clean it? Do you use the K&N stuff? I've never had one of these cone filters before, so I'm pretty much a noob on how to maintain them.

Not sure myself but you may want to try Steeda's site to see if they sell any cleaner or not, maybe you can email or phone them if they have a customer service address/number.

Steeda sells a cleaning kit for $12.95 plus shipping from Florida. It would be close to $20 and next Monday before I see it. They've got 38 of 'em in stock. Procedure is spray on, let sit for 10 min., blow out from the inside, re-oil and install.
This has got to be close to a K&N filter re-charge kit. They are certainly more available in parts stores.

Close? The K&N one at my work (Advance Auto Parts) is about 10 bucks

and we almost always have them in stock unless for some reason someone bought ten of them.
I would imagine it'd be fine to use on the Steeda filter if they are similar material. I've never seen a Steeda Filter but I've used the K&N kit on knockoff brand filters as well its pretty much just soap and oil that comes with them so I'd think they're pretty universal.

Yeah, look at the material, if its like that cloth, just use the K&N stuff. I use the K&N on my Volant filter, don't see why it would be any different for the Steeda.

Yeah, I was going to get the K&N kit anyway. The filter is cloth like. Thanks for the opinions. I feel a whole lot better using it.

Yeah, pretty much same thing for the Volant oil. Instead of the cool blue color, you get red. Not like it really matters what color your filter is...haha
