I need to get rid of my RX7. I had a buyer but he had to back out due to dental expenses.
it's an 89.
5-speed, 1.3L Rotary (woot, no pistons and 8,000rpm redline)
14x,xxx on body
less than 16,000 on new longblock and clutch
could use some body work and a new top (doesnt leak) it's not too pretty but parts for these are so damn cheap it has alot of potential
currently it runs, but something's wrong with the clutch hydrolics. it goes in and out of gear just fine when the car's off, but wont go in while running. should be an easy fix, I just dont have the time or desire to get it going.
only looking for $1,000 and will consider trades for home theater equipment, duratec performance parts, PS3, and other stuff.
it's a fun little summer car, for sure!
RWD, 5-speed, Convertible

what? haven't seen a rotary before? lol
I'll get some pics this weekend of the engine bay.
it's non-turbo. they didn't ever make a turbo-vert
tons of people at RX7 club said clutch master/slave cylinder had to be the problem. I have rebuilt both without success.
When the car is off, I can go in and out of gear easily w/ clutch in or out (normal behavior)
but when the car is running, it will not go into gear. the shifter doesn't travel into the slot. I can hear the synchros spin up in the gearbox and pushing it will drop the RPMS a little bit so the forks are good. after I rebuilt the master/slave I have pressure in the pedal and the piston on the slave IS actuating.
I dont really know where to look. it could be the slave is not pushing the forks far enough. I dont really know anything clutch systems.

did you damage the pilot when you put the clutch in?....are the trans bolts tight? or is you gear case and or gears bent?

I didnt put the engine and clutch in. the car was driving fine for the month and a half I was driving it and then one day on the way to work I was pulling in the parking lot an tried to go into 1st adn it didn't go so i tapped the throttle to rev-match it and it popped in. when I hopped in later that day it wouldnt go into gear for me. A.A.A. FTW
it was weird. no noise or antyhign... just stopped shifting.

My focus did that but i snapped both shifter cables. Unfortunately I don't a whole lot of experience with Hydraulic clutches

I fired it up today and it still ran fine. I drove ti to the gasstation and aound the block.
FYI: the brake rotors are shot from sitting and collecting rust. so dont expect to make any emergeny stops.
