Looking for recomendations...

Check engine light came on... ran it, and it said the ignition coil is bad. I dont really want to pay $100 for a stock one, when I could get an msd with wires for $120. other coils are $135 to $150. any other recomendations would be appreciated. Brands, actual best gains with certain coils. anything.

I run an accel, with the true ford racing plug setup. The stock one would fail under boost. No problems with this setup yet.

how do you figure, the stock coil has two coils in it at 50,000 each how the hell you gonna blow 100,000 out with boost unless you are runnin two atmosphers of boost. and show me in one instance that a coil pack boosted the turqe output more than 1 point. the stockers are fine unles you need to for some reason gap your plugs to a half inch. is it that the spray caused a heat issue( um maybe why it blew) and the plugs would heat soak ,the gap would spread and the resitance got to great ,and fried the coil?

wow, ok you guys have fun arguing over a coil pack... I'm gonna go find me a new one... :D
crazy kids... No I just don't see that if I'm gonna replace it, why I should have to put a stock one in. Understandibly, I'm not running boost or spray, but I'm planning on spray. So would it hurt to get an aftermarket coil pack put in? I don't see why not. But I usualy drive scorts, and I'm just learning about foci, so I'm nothing special. Granted they are the same thing, but... some people will argue that fact.

Aftermarket coil=100 and no gain, possibly a loss in power.

Stock coil, free from focinite=no loss in power and will do spray just fine.

When I had a Focus, the stock coil failed under boost. The Accel coil did not.

I stock the OEM coil packs, your cost $50.58.

The OEM coils work fine under boosted applications but they can fail, It's not the boost it's simply a failure. They seem to be prone to cracking (at least the originals were, they have been superceded).

after purchasing a new coil pack, plug wires, and previously spark plugs... I have to say that the spark plugs have to be the problem. ever since I put them in, my car has been running like complete crap until it warms up, then it still grumbles here and there.ngk iridiums coming out, and motorcraft stock plugs going back in.... sigh...

never stray from the motor craft plugs ford motors do not like any thing but motorcraft plugs . and the escort and focus are simalar, the trans are different, the brakes are diff, the hubs, knuckles, struts, wiring, shift linkages, the head, the intire suspintion, the intire harness the escort is a completely different car that shares a few parts with the focu. the contour has more incommin wit the focus. the couger is a focus/probe gt hybrid. the escort and proteza' are the same car, the focus and mazda 3 are the same car.

Bosch plugs are for the trash can.

I have a buddy who kind of had the same problem with his car, 90 talon tsi, but his was happening all the time. He said he replaces the ngk's with stock plugs and it fixed it. I tried putting the stock plugs back in, and it had no effect. Stillwater ford is looking at it currently. hopefult they'll find something out, or maybe just send it back to me saying something obvious, like, duah... well, is this a ford? no offence to thoes who work there, but I know a couple of workers up there who aren't too great about their jobs.

but you would recomend me buting a new set of motorcraft platinums, what came in it, and trying that? the thing is, what if that dosen't work? I know some of the SVTF have had buy backs for electrical issues.... could mine be one of them?

*sigh*
i miss my car... :(
