How I spent my Saturday night

Sitting here staring at a computer screen. Why, you may ask. Well because I cannot drive my Conquest. Again you ask why. Because no parts store has anything on hand for my car, ever. I had a rod knock and today I finally got around to verifying that it was in fact a rod. I dropped the pan and shook all the rods. Sure enough one of them moved up and down a bit. So I call around and try to find 4 standard bearings. Nobody had any, except Checkers and they only had 1. Well I supose I can try and get by with just one. So I get it all buttoned up and figure awe I should check the others just in case. Damn myself for precautionary thinking. The other 3 are shit also. The good news is the rod journals are just fine and I found a washer in the pan. I never lost a washer but it had a tough time getting into the pan, pretty tore up.

So hopefully parts will be in by Wensday. Then I will have new rod and main bearings, should be good for another 100k.

Clevite is Clevite no matter where your buy it  . For this car I just go where the correct parts are. But to defend Checkers, they are the second largest parts store in the US and have alot on hand. Advance Auto is the largest bt the closest one to me is in Buffalo.

Meanie, :P

Well maybe if you didn't boost when it was cold, but, that turbo sounds pretty badass from 2 blocks away :D

Worst part is I can still take a LS1, even with 4 shit bearings and almost over heating. Man I can't wait 'till this thing runs like it should.

The D50's and the Starion/Conquest have the same engine, the only differance I know of is the pistons/compression ratio. IIRC the mounts and all are the same up to the driveshaft. A bonus I have been reading up on is that the 2.0 DOHC head bolts onto the 2.6 block  . I guess there are a few guys running around with that setup, just a mean ass car. I had always thought my Lima block was stout until I got this thing, HOLY COW. It is built like a rock. Stock oil squirters, steel crank, ect. factory built racecar basically. I love it.

Yeah but you remember when we did the rock in the garage? I made a pile of shit that I didn't want, and, to the trash can it went? I did that again after I did my solid mounts....
