And yet you want to butcher a classic rod with an LS7 or mod motor?focinite wrote:no i like dark colors ,its zurno that likes pink.hell i like flat colors for a rod. eff shiny i like drivin cars more than eye hummpin themFORDSVTPARTS wrote:Yeah, you'd probably paint it in pastel pink and orange and cover it in polished billet everything too.focinite wrote:nails are great for wood gimme a duce with a termiator or a ls7 now thats addictive
I could sort of see the mod motor because it looks a bit like a hemi, The Nailhead is the best of both worlds, it looks fantastic, makes very good power and is dead on reliable.

first you cant butcher a rod they are to be cut apart in the name of speed . second were am i gonna find good go fast parts for a huge ass boat anchor? i fully understand the whole thing behind the buick but be honest if vick or iskaderian had the ls7 or the 401/430 buick whitch do you think would go in the frame rails? just sayin the thing that is lost about roding is most them cars you and dream about are not real hot rods areal hot rod is exposed welds oily greasy engins most of which were hopped up four bangers leaf springs and tractor seats

The very earliest rods started out that way but by the 1950s they weren't all built from random junk, there was still some of that but there were also a huge number of rods being built for show AND go.focinite wrote:first you cant butcher a rod they are to be cut apart in the name of speed . second were am i gonna find good go fast parts for a huge ass boat anchor? i fully understand the whole thing behind the buick but be honest if vick or iskaderian had the ls7 or the 401/430 buick whitch do you think would go in the frame rails? just sayin the thing that is lost about roding is most them cars you and dream about are not real hot rods areal hot rod is exposed welds oily greasy engins most of which were hopped up four bangers leaf springs and tractor seats
If you're going for a vintage look you use a vintage mill or buy one of those kits to disguise a modern engine as a vintage Olds or Ardun flathead etc.
The black car that started this is most certainly supposed to be a vintage rod and the Nailhead is perfect for it.
BTW- You said 401-430, those were two totally different engines, the 364 through 425 ci engines were the old nailheads and were used through 1966.
In 1967 they came out with the new wedge head 350-400-430 line and the 430 was replaced by the 455 in 1970.

not trying to contest. personal pref the show thing is all fine and dandy but for me the art the beauty the magic is the car in funtion before form. i have only experianced a handful of street rods and chop rods but for me i love the sound of striaght cut gears and clatter of a solid valve train but my true love is g force and 7000 rpm from a small cube v 8. soryy yes the rod with the nail or a willies with a blown elephant are more than enough to raise blood preassure its just getting to so darn vanilla ya know

I'd say there's a whole bunch of "form" going on there, right along with heaps of "function"
