ok so my cousins said i spun a rod bearing and that they talked to a guy who rebuilds motors and the guy said if he replacd the bearing that it would only last like 5k miles at the very very most. is this true and if it is can someone help me explain why that is?

when a rod bearing spins it will score the rod and the crank, not to mention all the debris that went into the oiling system. best bet is to get a used engine. then you can tear down the wrecked one and see how it works, then you can have the crank ground and put in new rods, forged pistons, anh spray the living shit outta it.

You can bend a rod also and the block may be able to be overbored to clean up any scaring. There are 101 ways it could make any number of knocking sounds.

If you're taking advice from here and giving it to your cousins who supposedly work at a shop, I'm afraid you're in for a world of hurt. A half assed mechanic would be able to come up with a very good guess as to the problem and wouldn't need the options presented on the internet.

I'd highly advise you bring it to a better shop with more capabilities and knowledge.
