Ahhh, I should have known Nils was the brains behind that pic.

Didn't your mothers ever teach you to respect your elders? I'm going to have to talk to them about that the next time they come over 8)

Medicine Lake had been mentioned in other thread. That lake is centrally located, and has a few access points. One at French Park (where spring mnsc meet was) and usually one on south east side by Hardys boat rental and bait shop, and one on west side beach. Ice should be minimal 8" for car, and 12" for a truck. By mid January, if whether is good and cold, ice should be well beyond that. I have a portable ice shack (can hold two) with heater, ice auger, and some gear. My focus is stored too, but I can bring a Ford. (My F250) Would need that to bring ice house and gear anyways.
Let's go boating.

OOOo OOOO, I can, I can!
I've been out on a lake so many times! lol
When my former step-mom (from Georgia) Moved to MN, she wouldnt set a FOOT onto a frozen lake for ice fishing despite all the one-ton trucks out there already. lol

Come on kids, it'll be fun!

but I would advise AGAINST drifting.... drifting into somebody's open spear-house hole would be a VERY bad thing... but it would make for an AWESOME story at future meets. lol

Are you going to check how thick the ice is? My dad has one that I could use, but I'm sure he doesn't want me borrowing it out

Exactly, I want to check the ice. I can probably ask around here as I'm sure someone has one. I also want to see how much snow is on the ice.
