If you put it on stands make sure they are under the suspension to keep a load on the springs.
So whats the advantages of putting it on jack stands then if you are keeping a load on the springs? Is it just for the tires benefit?
You can get flat spots on the tires from sitting that long, they'll work their way out fairly quickly but you can avoid it entirely if the car's off the ground.

It also keeps the tires away from the ground which can keep excess moisture off one area of the tire so you don't end up with one spot getting damp and then drying over and over.

As for the springs? I would imagine that if the car sat with the springs at full extension for six months the springs may want to stay that way for a while so your ride height could be high for a while in the spring. Just like new springs settling in.
OK, and then what about shocks/struts? What's their preference?

BTW, my kid (singular) ain't cheap either. I feel ya there. My wife seems to try to compensate for the fact we only have one by over spending on the one. Try five figures a year just for her gymnastics. (a lot of travel is involved, highly competitive level)

Just put on the crappy tires. Thats all I do.

I'm just gonna let Chromie sit on my BBS' since the tires are junk anyway.

Certainly do the full tank of gas, to reduce chance of condensation. Opinions seem to be all over the place on the jack stands, esp where to put them. No consensus yet.

Heres a fairly detailed article on storing a vehicle.

Dunno where the tank is at. I've never had a problem with it tho. I did'nt even check the tank before I started the mutilation.
