Does anyone recommend any cam gears over the other? I was looking at getting a set of Ford Racing ones thru Steve. Pros/Cons of the Ford ones?

Has anyone experimented with different intake manifolds? Ford sells a ZX2 manifold. And Focus Central makes one as well. Does anyone know anythig about those?

I'm looking for bolt-ons that will help out the Supercharger put more power to the ground.

Cam gears are going to be cam gears, AEM has the best instrucitons, however, they have been difficult to find in pairs.

Intake mani...make one, forced induction likes short runners, get air in, get air out.

Bolt ons....

If you change the TB or maf, you need a re-tune becasue you are changing the velocity of the air. You don't want an under drive pulley, that means less boost...

I would recomend a good tune, tuen to 91 octane, seems to be readily avail in MN, and, if your festive, get a tune for nav gas, go to an air port for this, you should be able to pay for it on the run way or ask the office about buying it, I eblive its 110 or 115 octane, race fuel from the local gas station contains lead, go for it if you wan't a dirty, gummed up motor.
FOCI wrote: What supercharger did you get? I've got esslinger gears they work fine and they look just like the ford racing gears.

They make the gears for ford racing;) For racing also uses I belive, crane cams? Or is it comp? One of the 2, they outsource the cams..like a lot of their ford racing parts
HotRodWagon wrote: As far as the manifold goes, I guess it depends on how much boost you plan on having. The FC one is no longer in production. I'd consider spending the $$ on a FR head and use an early 01 manifold. The FR manifold is a nice piece, but you won't get the real benefit from it without head work.

Your thikning early 00 mani, and, it has a sharp fall off after 5k, svt intake mani if you want power 'til your zetec can't turn no more...
HotRodWagon wrote: The runners are shaped differently, smoother shape as opposed to the 2piece design that followed. I have an early one too.
It is said to help na motors reach 170 whp. Evidentally this was conpared with a dyno, and the early had better gains. With FI though, I'm not sure it would be that measurable. Plus, I still say get the head. That will give you the power you're looking for.

Early 00 intake mani's are 1 piece and do not have the sqaushed ports, also like porting.

Search on focal jet;)

I've wondered about ther intake manis too. I was gonna get one but i didn't know if it was worth it to by one or just get the one I have ported out a bit. I do have a 00 though so supposedly I'm very fortunate. Even though I have the most recalls out of any model made

You need the intake, tb, alt bracket, throttle bracket, dsi, imrc and pigtail and, an msd window switch. I have 2 of the items.

sound like a lot of work for a failure prone intake mani, when a blast of nitro will flatten that torque curve right out.

Has anyone seen the prgress from porting out a stock manifold on a 00'?

If it was me, I wouldn't bother to port the manifold, unless you got some fancy tools, you will only be able to remove any obstructions at the TB opening and at the ports where it meets the heads, and, even if it is ported, your still limited on your power band, the runners are too long, thats why a stock intake starts to loose power at 5300, so, its pointless to go past that, I dunno, maybe cams might help a little bit, but, in my car with my cams, 5300-5500 is about all its good for. I need to get my ass in gear and get the rest of the svt conversion parts so I can do my svt intake mani swap, I prob won't be able to get to it til this summer though, I got a lot of shit in my lap right now :x

For those who don't know, the svt intake manifold has dual runners in it, a set of short, and, a set of long, at about 5300-5400ish rpm, in an svt, it switches to the short runners, long runners give you low end tq, this is what gets you off the line, on the high end, you want short runners, more HP, the svt intake mani is reported to make power past 7200rpm and up to 8k with the accompaning components(mainly, cams).

Focus salvage hit 165whp with crower #2's, stock head, svt exhaust, and, an svt intake mani. Not bad, for a zetec w/o FI/nos, and, on an unmolesed stock head.
