There's no way an SVT gets worth than 18 mpg combined driving. Not even my ranger qualifies... EPA rated 20mpg mixedPatalrob wrote:Mybe $4500 if you qualify for Cash For Clunkers.

if it has a salvaged title already and sell as a parts car......in your head think of a price, now subtract 1500 if the engine is shot, now another 1200 if the trans is crapped out, and now take the final number and take about half off cus its already a salvaged car(meaning the body has been hacked together or the car some where along the way was damaged to the point where it would be cheaper to replace than fix)and thats what its worth.cohenj87 wrote:ok im gonna check out everything you guys said. does anyone have any idea what a focus like mine with tons and tons of great parts and 59,000 miles on it and a salvaged title go for with the motor knocking? as a parts car or whatever? think i could get around 4k for it? its an 03 eap with every single option offered.
not trying to be mean but in really real world, you have a sports car, that has previously been damaged then repaired, and now has a engine knock. a good conditon solid, good running o3 svt focus goes for around 5-7 grand. so good luck, its best you fix it, or just srtip it your self and sell the parts, youll make more money that way.

Don't forget a slavage title doesn't always mean collision damage.focinite wrote:if it has a salvaged title already and sell as a parts car......in your head think of a price, now subtract 1500 if the engine is shot, now another 1200 if the trans is crapped out, and now take the final number and take about half off cus its already a salvaged car(meaning the body has been hacked together or the car some where along the way was damaged to the point where it would be cheaper to replace than fix)and thats what its worth.cohenj87 wrote:ok im gonna check out everything you guys said. does anyone have any idea what a focus like mine with tons and tons of great parts and 59,000 miles on it and a salvaged title go for with the motor knocking? as a parts car or whatever? think i could get around 4k for it? its an 03 eap with every single option offered.

I've seen plenty of flood cars get sold as salvage and depending on the water level they can be great cars. Al had one that the water only made it to the bottom of the seats.
That said, a salvage title for any reason severely reduces the resale value of any car regardless of the cause for the salvage.
Call Al 651-216-0899 and see what he'd give you for it. He buys and sells salvage title Foci all the time so he'll know what it's worth better than anyone besides the fact that he's a really good guy to deal with.

yeah it was collision damage. the svt parts are so damn expensive to replace. thanks for the 2k offer but that would be more of a loss then putting a brand new motor in it. id need to get at the very very least about 3800 even though i still owe a little more than that.

As an EAP if the interior and headlights are good, that would be a start to recouping the cost.
Really though, I'd say its a tough spot unless you find someone that wants that specific car and is ok fixing the engine.
And I think Focinite's value was a bit low, a good condition 03 still ftches better money than that as an EAP thats fully loaded.

interioris perfect and the headlights are fine but im probably jst gonna fix it since it would be about an 850 dollar hit putting the short block in versus a almost 3k hit selling it for 2k to someone for parts.

Well my cousins have it up on the hoist now and were starting to tear into it more. He said that there where some shaving in the oil and he was gonna look into it more. But even if they find out what it is I'm probably gonna be better off buying a new engine since they don't rebuild engines I'm guessing it will cost about the same to have mine rebuilt as it would to buy another one. My cousins will do all my labor free so that's why it would be about the same I think. My cousin said most places won't do just a partial rebuild because they can't say how long the other components that weren't replaced will last
