Definetly, FJ is the most clicky forum I've seen. If you don't agree with them your the one who ends up screwed. I threw up a post on FJ about illegal immigration. And some of the crap that was replied should have gotten some of the more popular members banned. I even got a couple hate PM's from a guy that I should have reported to a Mod. But I just let it go and quit paying attention to the thread. The last time I was in the news/bs section over there it was still active. Why people can't respect others opinions I'll never know!
No kidding, I almost git into a physical fight about immigration with my roommates. Intollerance and rednecks I tell ya. [FJ] is funny because of all the gun threads in off topic. I swear once a week there's a "post your firearm" thread with a lot of scary shit.

Whenver I hear about global warming, I just say look back at the midevil ages, durning that time period is was on average 30 - 40 degrees warmer than it is now.

I personally think the whole global warming thing is a bunch of crap, The planet goes through cycles and this is one of them.
There have been several ice ages over the course of time right, We weren't there to cause those or to cause the planet to warm up again.
I also don't see any point in arguing with people about things like this, it's like arguing about religion. Whos right the Catholics or the Protestants? Muslims or Christians?
You will never change someones mind, you'll just get yourself worked up for no reason.
Our government would just find someting else to waste the money on, they have had lots of practice.

not to argue. lol
but the cycles it's going through now and greatly accelerated and therefore not allowing life on this planet to properly adapt to the atmospheric changes. Humans are fine, as we have technology to aid our adaptation. the problem is, it's just not economical to have one or two countries change, or to expect inividuals to change their ways. the only way we could make a difference now is through global coorperation. don't talk about wasting money on trying to save the environment, I'm more worried about the billions of dollars of bombs we drop on thousands innocent people in our self riteous attempt to "liberate" the suffering.
*piff*
whatever.
I should move to canada ... they dont piss the world off.
I'm surprised the UN hasn't thrown the US out on it's ass for warlord Bush's actions.
remember kiddies, there weren't any WMD's; Jr's just taking out the trash for Sr.

I'm right behind you in line with my passport dude. I'm not trying to be a hippie or spite anyone on here, I just want to offer up my .02, if anyone would like to listen. First of all I do believe that global warming is an issue. It's been recognized by Bush as an issue ... so I don't think there's much to debate there. There's scientific backup to it. The reason we're getting so much snow lately, and this is the weird part about global warming, is because of all the warm temperatures, there's more moisture in the air, right. Well when there's more moisture, at the temperature range where it snows, there's going to be more to come down. Thus, more snow. It's a weird concept to get, but it makes sense. I think there's more to global warming that just blaming our infliction on nature directly. There's overpopulation, pollution, our "disposable lifestyles" where each human being, including me, generates far too much waste than in the past. Overpopulation is a big contributor because the world is growing at such an exponential rate that there's more transportation needs and more consumption.
I guess I understand "not believing in it" but being part of a younger generation, and having discussed this often with my financially republican father, it's sad what's happening. He says his generation isn't believing in it because they're on their way out. The kids of the baby boomers are going to be the ones to clean this shit up. I don't doubt we'll be able to do it, but I'm sure, like always in history, we'll wait to the boiling point and hopefully have some sort of scientific breakthrough ... change in lifestyles ... who knows. It's also funny that the US consumes about 30-40% of world energy, and only has about 10% of world population. Depending where you read it from these figures vary but across the board they are the same ratio. Gas, overpopulation, energy, waste, consumption, etc. These all draw in together and are a growing problem. I just hope we're all able to take it seriously sooner than later. Even if there is an ice age though at least some people will get a few days of good snowmobiling finally.
Respecting the right to agree and disagree I'd love to hear more from both sides on this, although starting this thread I wasn't looking for a reaction to the issue, I promise. Cheers fellas, sorry it's soooo long. Longest post ever from me by far. Lol.

they need to stop calling ti global warming. it throws people off because they're like "well hell, it don't feel warmer outside"
it's called global atmospheric change in the scientific community. warmth is not the only thing to change.
by the way:
Did somebody here go to SES?

no argument from anyone anywhere about that. The REAL questions are "Are we causing it, and is it going to cause bad unnatural long term effects?"
