Not sure what colors they got, I know blacks and silvers are the most popular, they have "cardinal red" aka 3m red. I know they got a huge shelf with diff colors.
Keeping the polished lip, I will ask and see what he says.
I can't say what a price would be for sure, but, if it was for myself, next to nothing. Wheels would have to come in with no tires on them. Parts do get baked at an excess of 200* depending on coatings.
Ok I got a chance to talk with the guy, I didn't ask about a group rate, but here goes....
per wheel cost is generally 50-75 a piece, thats blasting and coating, 1 coat of color, out door powder coating(holds up better) if you want clear, you are on your own, he said they had probs with the clear turning out so if they do it, they charge $$$$. Dupli-color makes a good clear for wheels anyways.
Colors-what ever you want, pretty much, but, there could be a cost depending on what colors you want, he said it would be best to use what they have in house for fast turn around time. If they do not have it, they would have to order and some times have to pay for samples, and its about 1 pound of coating generally for a set of 4.
Going over chrome-he said one guy there did chrome wheels with a red coating, it was sort of translucent and looked bad ass.
Chrome lips, you mask it off, not responsible for outcome, if you want them to mask it, $$$$$
They do have a pink, for you zurno, i was sure to ask.
What material are the wheels? He said some coatings spot or look cloudy when they coat them.
Now, if there was enough interest, and only 1-3 colors where to be used, I bet you could get closer to $50 a wheel. I can't guarantee for sure.
They can also blast and coat headers, cost is $250 a piece for black, no ceramic, in fact, the one customer that wanted it, they sold them the coating and said have at it, its a real pain in the ass to spray. Used headers, not responsible for rust or holes from blasting in thin spots.
They also have a dry film lube/protectant for pistons/rods/cranks, it gets harder when it heats up and protects from wear in race applications. Its about $20 to do the sides of a piston, extra to do the top, they put that coating on race cars, race sleds, bikes, and a few alcohol dragsters.
Did I get it all? The r&d guy I talked to, talked to the owner and thats what was relayed back.
Owner owns a liquor store, so, beer bribes won't work.
Well figure out what colors you want and what info you need me to get and I'll find out, I mean, if there was enough wheels, I would imagine the price gets lower.
Blacks should be cake, we do a shit ton of that.
I'll find out for sure if the tires have to be removed, I didn't ask, I would assume so.
