ok. I'm trying to wrap this by Wednesday. It might take a few weeks to get here if I can seal the deal.

what once was easy is now impossible. I really hate it when I get dissed. This isn't the first time mind you. You win some, you lose some. This one is pretty much not going to happen. If there is a miracle, I'll repost.

I got a tip from a guy I did some business with on the west coast. He turned me on to this business that dealt in overstocks..of anything, not only automotive. So, I open negotiations with the "business". They are receptive. They ask for trade references. I provide them. Good sign usually. I offer, they counter. As I fully expected this, their counter comes in where I pretty much figured it would. So we're set right..well obviously no...Why, turns out they were bidding on a lot from a distributor clearing out the slow movers...and got outbid...Thus the diss..I was lead to believe the product was in their possession. Naturally I pointed this out. But, there is of course no recourse anyway, and the way these deals tend to work, you just walk away. Tried. If you bitch, it's not worth word getting around. I even called the guy who gave me the tip to say thanks but it didn't work out. Whether he knew what the real deal was or not, who knows, but I like to leave the door open.
Deals are very hard to find on the parts people like us want: good parts for cheap. I turn down offers every now and then on crap that is not worth getting stuck with. Most of the time the buy in is out of my league for the real good stuff,
so I try to land the best deal on hot product. Because of this I operate in a very narrow range.
See the lesson from this one is to get to the source first. I was worked, basically financing a good portion of their bid. Had their bid been accepted, I would have received the lot, truck freight, direct from the distributor...with a different business name on the invoice. Eh. Deal opportunities I can/want to work come maybe once or twice a year. Doesn't mean I get the deal. It doesn't cost me anything but my time to try. I hate getting played, and there's always a new twist on a deal gone bad.
There you have it.
