Alumini-um rusts. It turns to a powder called aluminum oxide. Its used in most of aldee's foods and on grinding discs.but no a focus hood is made from thin steel. Matter of fact the entire car is made from very thin, rust rsistant steel. Steve what is the coating they put on thats all green? And i have seen some of these cars with exposed steel qnd they havent rusted.whats with that!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Not sure, I've seen plenty rusting lately though including some where the rockers are basically gone.

The green may have been zinc chromate primer (not sure on the spelling). It's a self etching product that eats into the base material. I know that that rusty hood was a bitch for Kyle to get it to look that even. Grinding and sanding etc. Even leaving it exposed in a snow bank. I'm still not sure what the secret shit was he drizzled on !! The trick is to get it even front to rear and side to side. Lot of work !!---Bob

Kind of funny how that works isn't it?

Look at the values of old Mopar muscle cars, they may have been fast but even when they were new they were crap, the interiors fell apart and they rusted faster than anything on earth.
