The beleif was that it stablized the front of the car. European racing was on rutted (semi paved) public roads in the early 1900s. Where as US racing went from public roads to horse tracks to wood banked tracks to paved tracks early on in the 1900s.Also the US racing was at a little higher speed once they got on wood and bricks. They didn't require the over crazy camber. Notice I said the beleif was.---Bob
