Has anybody used the special clay bars for cleaning windshields? Mine has all kinds of crap on it that I can't get off. It's pitted, too, but if I can at least get some of the residue off it I might be able to wait a bit longer to replace it.

I have not, but I am considering it on my G8 since I have their national meet in a couple weeks. I noticed this morning that is is pretty sad looking. What are you considering using?

I haven't picked one out yet, I'm still looking around. I was specifically thinking about the glass-specific ones, though, since I've heard the regular clay bars will make it worse.

I've considered just cracking it on my own and submitting to insurance. There, clean new windshield.

I'd rather just tell them the pitting makes it unsafe because it reduces visibility when driving into the sun. No fraud necessary.

I had a stroller fall out of the garage rafters on to my windshield a few years ago, I told the insurance company exactly what happened and they covered it.

Should I use it as directed on the can or are there some tricks?
