Turns out I do have a slipping clutch so it's going to be time soon for a replacement. Also turns out its not covered under my Ford Extracare extended warranty so ford decided to quote me at $2150 to replace a clutch..... AAMCO quoted me at $850. Is this a good time to go aftermarket? Anyone have any clutch kits to recommend?

Anybody know a good place to have this done for cheap?

$850 sounds cheap to me. This is a 12hr job if you do it yourself.

No way I could do it myself. So I should take the $850 and run with it is what everyone is telling me.

Was the $850 quote parts and labor? That seems a bit low, and the SVT clutches are not terribly cheap.

Yup parts and labor, we'll see if it stays that low.

Is it bad my clutch went out after only 84k miles?

I replaced a rear main in 8 hours, by dropping the tranny only so it doesn't seem exceptionally cheap either. That was also with a lift but only hand tools, no pneumatic. I would ask if they have done one before because both times I have had the cylinder head replaced( to lazy myself at the time) on mine 200$ was added for "a little more involved then what we thought".

I've done the clutch, twice. 850 would be a great price.

BE SURE THEY ARE QUOTING SVT PRICE, AND REALIZE THAT IT'S DIFFERENT THAN A FOCUS CLUTCH.

I had a part store promise me they have svt drive shaft and were definitely not when I went to pick it up. Sometimes systems are just wrong.

I was also looking into a new clutch. I'm thinking of going with the Exedy clutch and light weight flywheel. Not sure if I would go stage 1 or 2. I am going turbo so maybe 2. Anyway because I am getting the work done I was going to go with the Torsen T2 Differential LSD. Do everything at once. Anyone recommend a local shop to get the work done?

Go with the Exedy stage one. That's what Randy from FSW is running on his 05'. That's what he recommended when I was looking. I'm currently running the Exedy Stage one with no slipping issues at 12 psi on my 2.0.

850 is extremely cheap if its parts and labor. my going rate on clutches out of my garage is 650 just for labor......extra if you want LSD installed. If they quoted that, I would be all over it. Get a signature stating the price. If they go over, make them pay for it. It almost sounds to cheap to be true.......

It was. Got the car back today after they took 5 days due to the clutch kit being delayed in shipping. They changed the quote to 1100 once they saw they needed to replace the flywheel too.
