'06 ZX4 ST Clutch. Any advice on a Brand or model?

So like a fool I beat the crap out of my stock clutch and at about 60,000 miles on my 06 ST my clutch is slipping real badly. I went to the dealer and can get a stock replacement for $1,200 or an after market installed for $500. So two questions.

1. Does anyone out there know of any good aftermarket clutches that would take a little better abuse? I've been looking into the Exendy Stage 1 Clutch kit and flywheel.

2. How hard is the install if someone with general mechanical skills tried this himself or is it best to leave it to the professionals?

2. It's not terrible, it is time consuming and unfun though. Expect to spend about 12 hours on it solo, 8 with help. Have a computer or service manual handy. Make sure you replace the flywheel bolts and slave cylinder while you're in there. The worst part of the job is getting the tranny back in and bleeding the line.

Not sure of the design of the 05+ models, but on the 00-04, if I replace the clutch again, the master's getting done at the same time. It will eventually leak, and you might as well only have to bleed the hydraulic system once.

The 05-07 is likely no better...based on what I've heard on the forums, the seals are wimpy and very prone to failing. Since the MC is a relatively cheap part, you might opt to go for it IF you decide to do the whole thing yourself. Otherwise, if you take it in for the new clutch, do the master cylinder yourself later if you want to save some on the repair.

The kit I bought came with a master. I would replace it, since you will have it all apart anyway.
