SVT timing belt-IMPORTANT!!
i'm getting pretty close to 100k, at which time I'm planning on changing my belt whether it needs it or not. How much is a 'complete timing belt kit' (including pump and tensioners and the works)

you do not need to replace your water pump. it is not run by the timing belt and the only reason why steve wanted to replace his is because i noticed that it was leaking a little. it was the first water pump i have ever seen leak on a focus so don't just automatically think you need to replace it.

Where exactly did you read that? The only thing I've ever seen was 120k in the owners manual for the normal Focus, no mention of anything in the SVT owners supplement.focinite wrote:last time i checked ford suggests every 79 k. i dont remember it being any different from a normal ztec.

How much would Tousley charge to replace a timing belt on an 01 ZX3? I'm getting close to the 120K mark and I just don't have time to do it myself PLUS Most of my tools are still in Ohio waiting for my next trip back there to pick them up.
Thanks
Thanks

You'll want a belt, timing tensioner, timing idler and valve cover gasket (unless you have a newer gasket). I believe it's around $125.00 for the works.CrazySVTChick wrote:I'll be doing mine this week. My car just rolled over 100,000 miles.

Having the VCT on the intake cam seems to complicate things a bit and a lot of people end up with a code for "intake cam advanced/retarded" if they don't do it right.focinite wrote:no i rechecked and it was the escort 1.9 i was thinking. but i ment i dont remember the task of doing the t-belt as being different, its been some time since ive done one. i failed stupedisly on a 01-02 stratus timing belt for a 2.4 yesterday and today.......id rathere be shot in the knee, it took me almost two days(i got the wrong parts at first) to complete
