I didn't think so,

This is the last pic ever taken of this car in one piece, 1964 Austin Healey 3000 owned since 1976. Totalled in 1996 if memory serves.

This happened the next day :(

Thats what happens when you crash at Road America.

This is the car that replaced it, all home built exepct the cage and paint and I am proud to say I've had a hand in almost every job you can do on this car.

Wow! Did he by chance sell it to a guy in Aitkin? One of my old High School teachers had boughten a recked Healey. He saw it happen and asked the guy if he wanted to sell it.

Nice to see that he was alrite and still racing.

He bought the salvage back from insurance (they paid the claim) and the drivetrain and anything else salvageable was used on the new car.

He did sell the back 1/3 of the car to someone for a resto project they had going though.

The new car is a 1961, it had been a future project that was going to be built as a street car so the other one could progress further into racecar territory.

Obviously that plan didn't work out, The new car was pretty much trashed when my dad got it so it was stripped down to nothing and built up from scratch as a racecar.

Thats one of the really cool things about this car, it wasn't built by someone else, it was built by my dad and a friend of his and since then I've helped with the work to keep it on track like swapping gears, axles, transmissions, engine assembly and installation.

About all my dad got in the wreck was a bloody nose and yes he did bend the steering wheel, he was coming out of turn two going around a slower car that wouldn't let him by and he got a couple wheels off on the grass which pulled him off track and spun him back to the inside where he hit the tire wall. He was probably doing 60-80 when he hit the tires.

It was a tire wall  one of the features of his new car is a collapsible steering column, you'll notice the stock one in the wreck didn't move.
