Well there is a plum size hole in the block. Piston and rod torn to shreds. Crazy really. So, I'm looking for a block now.

New 2.0, new 2.3, built stroker 2.4, used 2.0 and build it up? Choices and decisions to make.
A couple I have ruled out - No V8, no rwd stuff, lol.

And thanks to those of you who came out and helped get the engine out. Couldn't have done it out with you!

I can check on engine prices for you if you like, you could also call Al and see what he's got sitting around.

Of course you could just go the built route in which case I can't help much at all for parts as Ford doesn't sell a block or crank for the Duratecs.
Tasca Auto Group- Employee pricing on all parts.

Call Al for a long block.

He has a bunch with less than 5k on them. Plus I'm sure he'd let a 2.0 go for fairly cheap.

Steve, why not check on engine prices if you can. That will give me a starting point and may help me decide what I want. (new vs used)

there's ups and downs in owning a focus. Not sure how I missed this post before, but I can relate. Your car is pretty unique as it sits, you need to keep it rolling.

Bummer Chris,

Sorry to hear about the car but I'd go ahead and build it if I had the money. I think I'd opt for a 2.3 if you could get one. If the block was still good I would rebuild it but thats not a possibility.

If it were me, I would just put a stock 2.3 in. Because if you build the block, and want to get the most out of it.. your going to spend alot of $$$. Clutch, Diff, bigger turbo ect...

It's looking a lot like I'm going the built 2.3 route. For a little over 3K I get a built 2.3, 2.3 head and intake, few other misc items, and I am really rocking after that. I can then turn up the boost and get myself in the 300fwhp club. :)
