should I buy some HID ballasts/bulbs

they are H1's which I think are my high beams (hella bright highs anyone?)

a few people on here may have seen them in action, mike (RSX_Knight form mnsc) is selling the ones he just installed not too long ago

if they are h1's they are not a true hid . true hid's use a plasma arc bulb( bmw) they flicker when you turn them on, they have more incomin with a movie projector. h1's are found in most after market( ebay, hella) head lamps, and are found in all k/c high lighters . they are bright but are not a true high intensitty discharge lamp. but yes your highs in a hella are h1. sorry if i did not under stand the ? as im really tired.

I was referring to the 2002 facelift high beams, which I believe are the H1's (the lows would be H7 then)

this is one of those aftermarket retrofit kits I am looking at, that would be a HID bulb on a H1 base I believe and use a balast

HID High beams? Those would be bright as hell. I still have the kit I'm trying to sell, but those are H4's. Yea, they are ignited through the ballast and flicker to warm up when turned on.

Maybe you should get HID low's first because they do flicker and warm up and you would use the low's more anyway if you're gonna spend that much on them. I don't even use my highbeams anymore, well only one of them works half the time, focinite knows what I'm talking about, haha. Unless you use your highs a lot.. or just want to flash the hell out of some people.

I'm itching for a new look as well, I hate my Hella's their not bright enough at all. I'd love to get HID's but honestly I'd love to get a whole new car. I am tired of the focus, sad but true. If i could i'd get the new Mazda CX-7 and keep the focus as a beater, wrenching, weekend racer car.

I just don't know what I want. The focus isn't as fun to drive as it used to be. The ride its getting rougher, and I just don't have the ambition to mod it like I used to. I really wanted to turbo it, and tint the windows, but a bigger system in, and rock it out but now its like blah...

but HID's still would be sweet as hell.

if you have spare cash get the mach HIDs as they're designed for HID light pattern. i know you can put HID on the stock housing but believe me the glare is too much for others on the road. I need to readjust my hella low beam. it's aiming way too high right now as i prolly blind some of the folks on the road..

ya, the glare is the reason that I wouldnt mind doing it on the high beams, since I turm them off when cars are oncoming anyways

someone has a used set of H1's for sale rigfht now is why I would do the high beams, and if I liked them I may do the low beams.

I would modify (and I may do this anyways) the lights to turn the highs on and leave the low beams on at the same time, since the beam pattern projects more ahead with the highs, but lacks the low beam up close shape, wehich would make the flickering not a problem

and possibly in the future I would do HID low beams, but I would go with like a 4300K or whatever is available (yellowish light) to hopefully reduce glare, and I would still have the blueish white highs
