Anyone got an SVT head laying around? I got a brain storm for my next mod, I need to get pics of where the cams go in, I need to know if I can use regular cams on a SVT focus head, I know the svt has vct on the intake cam...

Pics would be great, even better, if you have the head off the car, bring it to a meet so I can look at it and compare it to this stocker I got from Rod...

Turbo TOM makes a VCT delete, have you researched this?

Slightly.

I'd like to get the info first hand, I have seen so many things throw out, like, the svt manifold doesn't bolt to a stock head, or, it doesn't fit, just a bunch of stupid stuff so I want to get my hands on a head and look at it myself and compare all bolt holes etc...supposivly they have the same bolt pattern...

I currently have a SVT head sitting in my closet if you need any info-just let me know what you want to know. No Regular Zetec Cams will not work with the svt head. Call steve to confirm. Yes the svt mani will mount to the regular zetec head

I'd like to compare the heads side by side, are you going to the 2nd chance dyno thing?

I already have an svt manifold in my zx3

my guess would be maybe a regular length exhaust cam and a shorter intake cam I think, atleast thats how it is on the ZX2 I believe (intake normal, exhaust shorter), or atleast you can use a focus intake cam on a zx2, just not an intake cam

so you may be able to use your exhaust cam

IMINHELL

Comp, Can you post a pic of what the back side of the intake cam gear?

This is just a guess - I would assume there is a hole out the end of the intake cam where oil flows into the cam gear, in the cam gear there would be a spring (of sorts), as rpm increases so does oil pressure, the increasing oil pressure puts more stress on the spring and moves the cam timing accordingly.
As I understand it that is how the Honda VTEC works.
If that is the case then all you should need to do to run a SVT head would be to block the oil to the cam gear (probally a oil port in the passanger side cam cap).

I could be wrong on this but I have yet to see any electronics talked about with the SVT VCT, so I think the oil pressure thing is right.
