I have odd questions like.
How "rare" are the Focus SVT's? How does one find out how many were built per year etc?
What are some of the main differances in the motor and trans. The engine is still a 2.0, but how does it differ from the regular dual 2.0? is the lower end the same, with only the head being SVT specific? I know the SVT is 6 speed only, other than an extra gear, what differances are there from a 5 speed?

The bottom end is not the same, nor is the head. Bottom end has different rods, higher compression pistons, and oil squirters. Head has VCT, stiffer valve springs, and bigger intake ports. Transmissions have practically nothing in common with each other. Regular focus has an MTX-75, where SVT uses an entirely different Getrag tranny.

The engine has a different head, exhaust manifold, catalyst, dual stage intake manifold, forged internals, higher compression pistons, variable cam timing on the intake cam, custom semi-cold air intake system, and a custom aluminum head.
The transmission is a 6-speed unit built by Getrag. It is the same transmission used in the Mini Cooper S. It's a dual layshaft design with a dual-mass flywheel. Technically there is no "overdrive" gear, since the final drive ratio is still higher than 1:1 in sixth gear.

0-60 mph in 7.1 to 7.5 seconds
.87 - .92g 200 ft skid pad
Top speed ~135 mph

If you're not sure if the timing belt has been replaced, just do it now and save a lot of cash. The most popular and beneficial mod is a tune. There isn't a lot of bolt-on power to be made in these cars. The majority of bolt-on power will come from: 1. Tune 2. high-flow cat or ORP. Different air intake systems and cat-back exhausts yield little to no real power increase.

Rods and pistons are different, the block has oil squirters for the pistons, the head is totally different, the trans is a Getrag six speed where the five speed is an MTX-75 so 100% different.

The SVT has bigger brakes at both ends than any other Focus, different power steering pump, different rack and obviously a different body kit and interior.

As already mentioned "TIMING BELT!!!" if you don't know when it was done, get it done.
