Engine swap advice needed
I just picked up a Zetec from Al. I'm thinking about what I want to do before I put the new engine in. I'll definitely be swapping my newer alternator and my new starter onto this engine. I've got the following questions, though: 1) I may as well do the water pump and timing belt. Do I need to do th...

Re: Damn!
Yeah, but I don't have a free weekend for a while now. I can clear out an afternoon to swap in the Zetec, but 2 days is going to be really tough. Since this is supposed to be my daily driver, that equals bad. Also, I've got a car that's supposed to be my toy and if I don't spend $1600 on my Focus, I...

Re: Damn!
I talked to Al today and he said $1600 for the whole SVT minus brakes, interior and a couple other small things. It's really tempting, but I think I'm just going to have to go with a new (to me) long block. With another pair of hands, I might be able to do the swap in a weekend, but that's a lot of ...

Re: Damn!
I can talk to Al, but this one on CL is actually $150 for the long block and in my neck of the woods. Al's profile says he's in Hastings. I can pick up an engine in St Paul this week, but with the overtime I'll be working I'll have no chance of getting to Hastings for quite a while. If he's around t...

Re: Damn!
Yeah, there's a Zetec on Craig's List for $175 (long block) with 97k on it. I was looking at that wrecked ZX4 (which appears to be either sold or back up to $1000, I'm not sure which) and I wouldn't mind an SVT swap, but I've been spending a lot on cars lately. Given that I'm not completely clear on...

Today I was driving down 35E from Lino Lakes to Inver Grove Heights and hit a big puddle. If I had actually removed the CAI we were talking about here , I would have been fine. Instead, I picked up a whole bunch of water and busted the nose off the starter. I checked it out and thought I'd been luck...

Re: cheapest CAI i've ever seen.
In my defense, the one I bought didn't say JDM. :) I didn't expect it to be a power adder, but I also didn't think the welds would break so easily.

Re: cheapest CAI i've ever seen.
I think that's the one I got. My airbox was broken and it was cheaper than a replacement. I've had it for a few months and the mounts are already broken. The flange for the MAF sensor didn't fit right out of the box and it's a little loud. I'm thinking I may just find a stocker at some point.

Re: Mowog#6 DCTC
I know I've seen magnets with little silhouettes of cones in them. I've seen them applied to cars in a manner indicating the cone has been knocked over. This is in contrast to the "no cones" magnets, of course. I have no idea where these people got them, but I bet somebody on the MAC forum...

Re: Tire size help please
I'm running Kumho Ecsta ASTs in 205/45-17 (stock suspension as far as I know). I haven't had them rub at all and it looks like there's probably enough room for a 215/45, but I can't be sure without actually having them on the car. The ASTs aren't bad in snow, unlike the Supra 712s on my XR. I ran th...

Re: For sale: left over parts
So, I think I've decided that for $25, I don't really need pictures of the shifter. Let me know how you want the money and I'll send it.
