Re: Older Turbos (pre-EMS)

Do you have one you need tuned or something? I have the tools here to do so if you want. There are many 'tuning' options for the EEC-IV. TWEECER, Binary Editor/EEC Analyzer are the big 2. Otherwise there are 'chip' options. I've always been kinda-sorta interested in the SVO Mustangs, but the more I...

Re: Changing dealership name!!

What are the commercials gonna sound like? The 'Tousley guy' used to say, "Tousley Ford, White Bear Lake". What's he gonna say now: "Autonation Ford, White Bear Lake"? Doesn't have the same ring to it.

Re: Changing dealership name!!

Does that mean they will do away with that hideous windmill logo? "Tousley Ford" is an absolutely iconic name. There is sooooo much brand recognition there. I'm assuming that the marketing gurus considered this, but it does seem weird. Maybe there's more negative brand recognition t...

Re: Older Turbos (pre-EMS)

There is/was a company called Forced4 Motorsports that was big into those cars, you can also get in contact with the XR4Ti and T-bird Turbocoupe guys as they were quite similar to the SVOs. Wow! A Merkur! I had completely forgotten about those cars (XR4Ti & Scorpio). Kinda weird looking. When M...

I have a computer sitting here from one.
Okay, I'm guessing these were pretty crude. If someone wants to soup up their SVO Mustang, is there a different, more sophisticated, ECU available? Or is it possible to 'tune' the EEC-IV?

Yes, the SVO Mustangs were fuel injected, but what kind of engine management did they have? They certainly weren't computer ECU's.

Older Turbos (pre-EMS)

I've always liked the '84-'86 SVO Mustangs, but I'm puzzled about one thing: How are these engines controlled without a computer-type EMS (Engine Management System)? I know that these can be modified to yield some pretty impressive horsepower.

I can't begin to imagine what a nightmare it would be to sync six carburetors! Y...

Thanks for the suggestion, but I still have 3 decent Connies, and I may as well get another season out of them (by buying a 4th tire). I ain't independently wealthy, but would be willing to try another set of tires if you're buying!

Thanks for all the input. Based on the information I received, I think I'll just stick with the Continental Extreme Contact DWS's.
