I think you're doing it wrong if it's too long. In fact, I have a 3 door console (with arm rest) in my wagon (which had no arm rest)

Well now, I would strongly consider seeing what it would take to stick a 4.6 or 5.0 in there, depending on which would be an easier swap. I'll bet it wouldn't be bad at all. A friend of mine put a 5.0 in place of a pushrod 4.0 in his similar vintage ranger. I think I'm good with the 4.0 well, I gue...

an old friend of mine had one, but I'm pretty sure it hit the scrap yard, and it was pretty rusty. The alternator eventually gave out at 500+k miles, and he decided it was time for a new car and that he had gotten his $50 out of it
