Re: SVTF Gauges Dead

I took it into the shop last Wednesday for repair. The car hadn't been run for a week. Lo and behold, the gauges were working again when I started the car. The mechanic did a search of a repair database, and apparently there have been issues with dirty circuit boards and connections (the mechanic c...

SVTF Gauges Dead

I drove the car 150 miles on Monday with no issues. It sat for two days, and today when I started it the gauge cluster is pretty much dead: no tach, speedometer, odometer, fuel or temp gauges (although the two right-most gauges, oil pressure & oil temp work). I tried the obvious: checked fuses ...

WTB: Reliable, Economical Car for My Son ($3k-$5k range)

Like it says. He is heading off to his first job after college.
- Need something reliable and economical.
- Automatic transmission is highly desired (would have to be pretty special for him to consider a stick).
- He is NOT mechanically inclined.
Thanks in advance.

SVT Serpentine Belt

I have a "gently used" (44k miles) SVT serpentine belt that came off of my car a few years ago when I installed the JRSC. Numbers on it are 4M5V 6C301 AA 6PK2115 G149E. Free if anyone wants it.

Re: TrueCar

This techy generation just takes all the fun out of buying a new car. Part of which was visiting different dealers, test driving and dealing with salesmen used to be part of the fun. Wow, you certainly have a different perspective than I do. Dealing with the typical car salesman/woman and the sales...

TrueCar

Anyone have any experience using TrueCar.com??? Seems like a helpful website, but not sure if the pricing information is truly "the best deal" or not.
Comments?

Re: Need a good Ford sales person

The last time that I actually considered getting a new car was in 2000. I couldn’t believe the run-around I got; it was the stereotypical worst-case car sales scenario. I started with a salesman, who quickly passed me off to someone else (sales manager?). I must have asked a thousand times what the...

Re: stereo guys UNITE!!!!!!!!!!

Why you wanna do this to y'self? Huh? Killer stereos with a bazillion watts are good news/bad news: - The good news: Listen t' dis! Totally killer sound, with enough power to make the car shake more than a full race Hemi. - The bad news: In a few years you're gonna be deaf as a post. Seriously!

Car For My Son

My 22 year old son who just graduated from college needs a car. He has no mechanical skills. Budget is approx. $3000 or less. Ideas? How about a Crown Vic (maybe even an ex-police car)?

Steve, Congrats on the new position. I hope that it works out great for you. You have provided outstanding service and prices over the years, and I would like to keep you as the 'go-to' guy for all my parts. Still have some questions/comments: A) I'm still unclear re: how would one gets parts that ...
