Why would you want too?

The gear ratio on the MTX-75 is WAY better...

I don't know stuff like that. I just know that when I am cruising down the interstate at 80, I would like to have a 6th gear to slide into and cruise. Right now, my ST revs at at least 3,000rpm's going only 70.

K,

The SVT 6 speed was geared for track use so it's got a pretty long 1st, 2nd, 3rd but then 4th, 5th and 6th are really close.

It's NOT a freeway cruiser.

And as for your ST getting "slower" with an SVT engine? Swing on by next time your in town and we'll test your theory out

If you really want more relaxed freeway cruising go buy a 2004 Pzev MTX, it's got much better highway gearing.

 I think you're the only SVT owner who caught that comment, despite me underlining it  . It would be a fun test, wouldn't it??? What is the more powerful/better performing engine...the SVT or the ST?

Stock for stock the SVT wins, even with basic bolt ons the SVT wins. In testing when the ST came out they ran them and from a dig the ST could pull a little bit on the SVT due to it's higher torque but once the SVT get's rolling it has a much stronger pull in the higher revs and the gearing of the Getrag keep sthe SVT right in the peak of it's power band.

Thinks about it SVT 170hp, ST 154hp. I don't recall factory torque ratings but the ST was stronger in that regard. The ST is a fine car with a LOT of potential but it won't beat an SVT given similar mods or stock to stock.

Given approximately a 20% loss in power to the wheels a stock SVT puts down about 138whp and an ST would put down about 125whp.

Last time on the dyno mine put down 154whp and 140 lb ft and that's just with a cold air and tuning, I've had a couple tweaks to the tune since then including just recently having the rev limit bumped from 7200 to 7600 :) so it should be a little stonger now.

Here's a stock tuned SVT with a short ram intake,

And here's mine the same day as the one above, this is with a much earlier version of my tune,

I have a printed copy of the dyno from the later tune somewhere but I'd have to dig around at home to find it.

I have taken down 7 SVTs so far very easy. I am down to test with you at the local track anytime. Is you SVT the one that takes the win and is the first to beat my 2.3?

Don't need a track and I won't go from a dig, The SVT clutch doesn't like launches and mines got 93k on it.

Nice sig there Jason, Just hope you don't run across the guy that posted above you out on the road. It'd probably be embarrasing for you to get your rear end handed to you (severely) by a 60+ year old guy in a stock looking SVT.

BTW-I'm thinking Pappy might differ with you on that as well.

Oh, and Zurno and Patalrob and Davis and.............oh hell this could go on all night
